Individual Exercise
Easy. Analyze tools for digital history. In the paper “
Your Program’s Posture,” Alan Cooper argues that programs may be classified as sovereign, transient, daemonic or parasitic, depending on how they interact with the user. Make a list of all of the software that you interact with during a typical historical research process and classify it according to Cooper’s scheme. How do software usability issues enter into the historians craft? What could be improved?
